Banerjee provided some cheers in an otherwise dull day for the Indian archers as both Jayanta Talukdar and Chekrovolu Swuro crashed out in the opening round of the men's and women's individual events on Tuesday respectively.
In individual events, which is decided on best of five sets (three arrows each), one who wins a set irrespective of the margin gets two points.
Banerjee, who scored a total of 84 points as against 75 of his opponent, hit a total of six 10s in three sets.
In the third set, he had three perfect 10s that helped him seal the match.
