Second-seeded Fernando Verdasco rallied to beat Kevin Anderson 6-7 (2), 6-2, 6-3 in their rain-delayed Estoril Open quarterfinal on Saturday.
Verdasco trailed a set before play ended Friday but dominated on clay the following day. The 12th-ranked Spanish player never faced a break point while breaking his seventh-seeded South African opponent three times over the final two sets to win.
Verdasco plays either Gilles Simon of France or Canada's Milos Raonic in the semifinals. Their match was suspended at 1-1 in the third set on Saturday due to rain.
Juan Martin del Potro faces Pablo Cuevas in the other semifinal match.
