Sania Mirza helps women finalists get prize money equal to men
Acting swiftly on Sania Mirza's suggestion, the organisers of the Fenesta Open, the national tennis championship, on Saturday, increased the prize money of women's singles winner from Rs 1 lakh to 1.5 lakh.

Acting swiftly on Sania Mirza's suggestion, the organisers of the Fenesta Open, the national tennis championship, on Saturday, increased the prize money of women's singles winner from Rs 1 lakh to 1.5 lakh.
Sania, who was the chief guest and gave away the trophies to the winners, watched the proceedings of the concluding day and asked AITA President Anil Khanna why the women's purse was less than the men's.
At the presentation ceremony, a DSCL official, said they have noted Sania's suggestion and decided to revise the prize money for women.
Accordingly, Prerena Bhambri, the winner got Rs 1.5 lakh and runner-up Risihika Sunkara Rs 1 lakh as against Rs 65,000 that was initially promised.
Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan won the men's title after beating Arjun Kadhe.
