India's doubles exponent Rohan Bopanna and his Canadian partner Daniel Nestor were today seeded seventh in the men's doubles event of the Australian Open, where they will begin their campaign against Marcos Baghdatis and Marinko Matosevic.
Bopanna and Nestor are coming into the first Major of the year after title win at the Apia International in Sydney.
Leander Paes and Raven Klaasen, who won the Heineken Open in Auckland on Saturday, are seeded 10th and they are pitted against American combine of Scott Lipsky and Rajeev Ram in their first round contest.
Mahesh Bhupathi and his Austrian partner Jurgen Melzer are expectedly unseeded and they find themselves against another unseeded Argentine team of Diego Schwartzman and Horacio Zeballos.
Yuki Bhambri is India's lone campaigner in the men's singles and the 22-year-old is up against world number six Andy Murray from Great Britain.
Country's top player Somdev Devvarman and upcoming Ramkumar Ramanathan could not make it to the main draw, following their first round defeats in the Qualifiers.
In the women's doubles, Sania Mirza and her Chinese Taipei partner Su-Wei Hsieh are seeded second and they open their campaign against Argentina's Maria Irigoyen and Swiss girl Romina Oprandi.
Sania may meet her last season's partner Cara Black in the second round, provided both of them clear the first round.
Zimbabwe's Black and her Chinese partner Saisai Zheng are up against Gabriela Dabrowski of Canada and Alicja Rosolska of Poland.
