Here's some positive news! The chance of rainfall between 7 PM and 10 PM is only 8%. This means that even if there is some rain before the toss, we're unlikely to have further delays as the evening progresses.

There is a 49% chance of rain at Colombo between 6 PM and 7 PM according to AccuWeather, meaning we could be hit with rain minutes ahead of toss time. However, the rain has stayed away so far!

According to AccuWeather, there are likely to be showers at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo after 5 PM. That is just 2 hours ahead of the India-Pakistan game. The forecast says that there's a 63% chance of precipitation, while cloud cover is going to be 100%.

According to reports, it is quite windy in Colombo and although it is not raining, conditions are quite overcast. Floodlights are on and this can be bad news for cricket fans.

Sanjay Manjrekar gave a stunning verdict on India's 'no handshake' stance against Pakistan. "This ‘no shaking hands’ is such a silly thing that India has started. It’s unbecoming of a nation like ours. Either play properly within the spirit of the game or don’t play at all," he wrote on X.

India has defeated Pakistan 12 times in the 16 T20 games they have played. It also has an impressive 6-1 record in the eight T20 World Cup matches since the first edition in 2007, with one being tied.

Some media reports are claiming that the clouds have subsided in Colombo and there is bright sunlight as of now. However, according to the prediction, it may rain after 2 PM with heavy rainfall just before the start of the match. 

"If we go inside the cricketing aspect, the hype created around Usman Tariq is another psychological victory for us. Right now, no one is talking about Babar Azam or any other player. People are talking only about Usman Tariq. He has played just one or two games for Pakistan, but just imagine the amount of panic he has created in the Indian camp. They are specifically practicing against him in their sessions," Mohammad Hafeez said ahead of the game.

The R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo has enough covers to protect the entire playing area. That allows the ground staff to get the pitch ready within 45 to 60 minutes once the rain stops.

The toss can be delayed as according to ESPN Cricinfo, the latest weather forecast for the Khettarama area of Colombo, where the R Premadasa Stadium is located, has the heaviest rainfall falling in the hour before the first ball is set to be bowled, which is 7 PM.

While the Suryakumar Yadav-led India are placed on top of Group A standings with four points and the Net Run Rate (NRR) of +3.050, Pakistan are placed second with four points, too, and an NRR of +0.932.

Both India and Pakistan have played two matches each in the tournament so far. Both have registered victories in those games. While India will enter the contest on the back of wins against the United States of America and Namibia, Pakistan has defeated the Netherlands and the USA.

According to weather reports, there is a high chance of rain during the Group A match and considering the fact that there is no reserve day, a washout will mean that points will be split between the two teams. 

However, there was some good news for the fans as the Sri Lanka Department of Meteorology said that conditions will remain cloudy in Colombo but there may not be any rain. 

On the other hand, parts of the eastern and southern provinces are expected to experience heavy rain. However, Colombo, which is in the Western Province, is expected to remain dry with misty conditions at night.

While India will be playing for the first time in Colombo during the T20 World Cup 2026, Pakistan have played both their game at the venue. According to some experts, Pakistan will have a slight advantage in this match considering the experience that they already have when it comes to playing in these conditions. However, India captain Suryakumar Yadav downplayed the chatter.

No rain in Colombo right now as NDTV reporter Vimal Mohan reported from Sri Lanka. Few clouds in the sky but it does not seem like it will rain at the moment. However, weather reports did claim that there is a high possibility of rain during the T20 World Cup match.

With Abhishek Sharma set to return to the India playing XI, Sanju Samson will find himself on the bench. However, it remains to be seen whether India opt for an extra spin option with Kuldeep Yadav or continue to put their trust in Axar Patel and Varun Chakravarthy.

“A low-pressure area is likely to form over south-eastern Bay of Bengal around 15th February,” Sri Lanka’s Department of Meteorology said in an official release.

India have an impressive head-to-head record against Pakistan when it comes to T20 World Cups. They have won seven out of the eight encounters and they will be looking to continue their impressive run on Sunday.

When it comes to Sunday morning, AccuWeather predicted a 96 per cent chance of rainfall. Even if ran ends up not impacting the length of the match, it can play a role in how the pitch will play. If rain does come in the morning, it can mean that spin bowling can become extra important for both teams in this match.

"Colombo is a bit cloudy today. We had a light shower last evening, but the forecast for the day is dry. However, elsewhere in Sri Lanka, particularly in the eastern and southern provinces heavy rain after 1 PM. Colombo is in the Western province which is expected to remain dry, but misty conditions at night" - NDTV's Rica Roy reports from Colombo.

The Sri Lanka Department of Meteorology flagged the possible formation of a low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal and it can lead to significant rainfall during the match.  In an update issued by the Natural Hazards Early Warning Centre, a warning was also issued.

In case of a washout, points will be split between India and Pakistan. As this is a group stage match, there is no reserve day and as a result, fans will not want rain to impact this highly-anticipated encounter.

According to weather reports, there is a 94 per cent chance of rain. While the weather in Colombo has always been quite unpredictable, there is a significant chance of a washout when it comes to today's match.
