Slovenian attempts to swim through Amazon

A 52-year-old Slovenian swimmer is looking to become the first person to swim the entire length of the Amazon River.

A 52-year-old Slovenian swimmer is looking to become the first person to swim the entire length of the Amazon River. Martin Strel, who is also known as the Fish Man, will attempt to swim nearly 5,400 kilometres from Peru to Brazil. He is a successful marathon swimmer and has proved his mettle in the past by swimming the Mississippi and the Yangtze River. But this time he will not swim the Amazon alone rather will be accompanied by a team of nearly 50 doctors and trainers. A host of different species of crocodiles, insects and piranhas will also give him company.
