Uttar Pradesh Hikes Prize Money for Olympic Winners
Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav announced that gold medal winners will get Rs.6 crore, silver medal winners Rs.4 crore and those winning bronze medals Rs.2 crore.

The Uttar Pradesh government on Wednesday hiked the award money to be given to sportspersons from the state who win medals in the forthcoming Olympics.
Announcing this, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav said gold medal winners will get Rs.6 crore, silver medal winners Rs.4 crore and those winning bronze medals Rs.2 crore.
Yadav was speaking after inaugurating the 35th National Junior Rowing Championship on the banks of river Gomti.

He also launched the web site of the Uttar Pradesh Rowing Association and released a souvenir.

More than 300 sportsperons from 18 states are taking part in the championship.
