Narsingh Yadav met Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a day after the dope-tainted wrestler was given a clean chit by the National Anti-Doping Agency to participate in the 74 kg freestyle category at Rio Olympics.
Speaking after the meeting, Narsingh said, ""The Prime Minister gave his best wishes to me and asked me to be carefree and participate in Olympics without any tension. He asked me to focus on winning medals for the country. He also assured me that no injustice will be done to me," Yadav said after the meeting.
The wrestler said he wanted to leave behind the controversy and focus on his participation in the Olympics and winning a medal there.
"I am thankful that the Prime Minister has met me and supported me. I am thankful to people for supporting me. I hope to live up to their expectations. I am also thankful for the support of the Wrestling Federation and the media for standing by me," he said.
Following the hearing on Monday, Narsingh had thanked the Prime Minister for helping him in a tough time. "I thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi for bailing out a poor wrestler like me. I also thank Brij Bhushanji. Whatever I am today is because of him," Narsingh said.
NADA's decision is expected to be reviewed by the World Anti-Doping Agency. India already have a back-up entry in Parveen Rana.
If allowed by WADA, Narsingh will be in Olympic action on August 19. By then, the wrestler would have flushed himself of all the stress and agony that made his path to Rio a virtual hell.
