Sumit Antil became the first Indian man and second from the country to defend the title as he won the F64 category gold with Paralympics record of 70.59m at the Paris Games. The 26-year-old world record holder from Sonipat in Haryana bettered his own earlier Paralympic record of 68.55m set in Tokyo while winning the gold three years ago. His world record stands at 73.29m. Antil is the second Indian overall after shooter Avani Lekhara to defend Paralympics title. 

India's Kanchan Lakhani is up next in the Women's Discus Throw F53 final.

Nithya Sre Sivan is set to compete in the women's singles SH6 bronze medal match, where she squares off against Indonesia's Rina Marlina.

Turkey's Aysel Onder runs Heat 2 in just 54.96s, breaking Jeevanji's world record! It is game on for the gold medal event!

Jeevanji had beaten Onder in the 2024 World Championships final earlier in 2024.

Jeevanji absolutely cruises to victory in Heat 1. 55.46s to run her 400m. As she has finished in the top 3 in her heat, she gets automatic qualification.

She will definitely be a contender for gold in the Women's 400m T20 event.

India's Deepthi Jeevanji will compete in the one of the final events of the day, the Women's 400m T20 Round 1. She is in Heat 1.

Jeevanji holds the world record time (55.07s) in this category, which she set on May 20, 2024, just over three months ago.

Sumit Antil's gold is India's third of Paralympics 2024, and 14th in total. It takes India to 14th in the medal standings.

India are now just 5 medals shy of their record tally from Tokyo 2020. History beckons?

Just like Avani Lekhara, Sumit Antil has also clinched back-to-back Paralympic gold medals. Not just Neeraj Chopra, javelin in India has two kings.

Sandip Sanjay Sargar will not do any better than 7th. His last throw is 56.30m and he finishes with a best of 58.03m.

India currently sit on 22nd in the medal table, with 13 medals (2 golds, 5 silvers, 6 bronzes). If Antil clinches gold, India will leap up to 14th for the time being.

In case you were wondering, the para javelin world record is also held by Sumit Antil. He had thrown an outstanding 73.29m in 2023. 

Antil fouled his Round 4 throw, but still maintains a healthy lead at the top. Sandeep stays 4th, his best throw presently 0.93m shorter than 3rd-place Dulan Kodithuwakku of Sri Lanka. Sandip Sanjay Sargar is 7th with a best throw of 58.03m.

Competitors in the women's discus throw F53 event have made strong starts. The first athlete, Brazil's Elizabeth Rodrigues Gomes, has thrown a Paralympics Record 17.37m. The second athlete, Japan's Keiko Onidani, has thrown an Asian Record 15.78m.

The Men's Javelin Throw F64 Final is underway. Sandip Sanjay Sargar throws 54.86m with his first throw, he is the first of three Indians in the roster, alongside Sandeep and Tokyo gold medalist Sumit Antil.

The Women's Discus Throw F53 Final is also on, where Kanchan Lakhani is India's sole representative.

A barrage of events are set to get underway in next 10-15 minutes. Alongside Sukant Kadam, Sheetal Devi and Rakesh Kumar will also fight for bronze in mixed team archery. They will take on Italy.

The bronze medal match between Sukant Kadam and Indonesia's Fredy Setiawan is underway. Not the ideal start for the Indian, who trails 4-1 early on.

It may not have been the best performance in the final, but Suhas Yathiraj brings home silver for India in the men's singles SL4 para badminton event.

Suhas loses 21-9, 21-13 to France's Lucas Mazur, but takes India's medal tally at Paralympics 2024 to 12.

Suhas Yathiraj has also made some unforced errors in the final. He trails 17-10 now, in what has been a dominant display from Mazur.

Mazur is also significantly taller than Suhas. The Frenchman is 6'3" (191 cm) compared to Suhas' 5'9" (175 cm).

This is reminiscent of the gap between Lakshya Sen and Viktor Axelsen.

Suhas Yathiraj is down 11-6 in the second game, and Mazur is riding the momentum. As things stand, India will have to settle for silver in SL4.

Suhas Yathiraj lost the first game 21-9 to France's Lucas Mazur. He has started better in the second game, but trails 3-2 at the moment.

Sheetal Devi and Rakesh Kumar still have a chance to bring home a medal, as they will contend in the bronze medal match in the mixed team compound open archery event.

They will face either Italy or Great Britain.

India and Iran go dead even in the shoot-off but India lose, because Iran's best shot was closer to the centre.

Iran's Fatemeh Hemmati fired her shot just 1.1 millimetre away from the centre, whilst India's was 19.3 mm away. A really heartbreaking way to not enter the gold match.

As we prepare for the shoot-off to get underway, Suhas Yathiraj is trailing 16-7 in the men's singles SL4 para badminton final. 

It is going to go to a shoot-off. Seemed like India were in the final, but Iran have a 9 overturned to a 10, and we are level! Pressure on Sheetal and Rakesh now.

Sheetal Devi and Rakesh Kumar hit 38 again compared to Indonesia's 37, to extend it to a 114-105 lead. Surely the semi-final is all but a guarantee now.

Manisha Ramadass is 3 points away from a first Paralympics medal! The 2022 World Championships gold medalist is on the verge of taking India's tally to double digits.

Ramadass has a big lead over Rosengren in the second game. However, Thulasimathi is down 11-5 in the halfway point of the second game of her final.

Qiu Xia Yang is looking to assert her authority in this women's singles SU5 final. She has taken a sizeable 4-point advantage now.

Manisha Ramadass is inching closer and closer to sealing India's 10th medal of Paralympics 2024. 11-5 is her lead at the halfway stage of the second game over Cathrine Rosengren.

Thulasimathi Murugesan is guaranteed a silver, but she needs to win this second game to stay alive in the hunt for gold. It's currently 3-3.

4 points in a row for Manisha Ramadass! She turns the two-point deficit to a two-point lead. Fantastic from the 19-year-old.

Meanwhile, the second game is underway in the bronze medal match between Manisha Ramadass and Denmark's Cathrine Rosengren. The latter has the early lead, at 3-1.

Qiu Xia Yang shows exactly why she's the defending gold medalist. Thulasimathi led for much of that first game, but ultimately Yang went 10-2 in the end to take the game.

Unlike Nitesh Kumar's SL3 category, the SU5 categories take place over the entire court. 

Thulasimathi leads 11- 8 at the halfway stage. A great start by her. Meanwhile, Manisha has also soared into the lead in the bronze medal match, and leads 11-6!

Thulasimathi's opponent Qiu Xia Yang is the defending Paralympics gold medalist in the women's singles SU5 category. Although Thulasimathi is the first seed, defeating Yang would be a big achievement.

Athletes with impairment on upper limbs play in the SU5 category in para badminton. Thulasimathi is impaired on her left arm, and plays with her right hand.

India currently sit in 22nd spot in the Paralympics medal table, with 2 golds, 3 silvers and 4 bronzes. The latest addition to that list was Nitesh Kumar's gold medal in the men's singles SL3 category.

Javelin thrower Sumit Antil will headline a host of para athletics events later in the day. Antil, along with Sandeep and Sandip Sanjay Sargar, will compete in the javelin final starting at 10:30 PM.

Para archery kicks off from around 8:40 PM, with the mixed team compound open quarter-final. Rakesh Kumar will pair up with Sheetal Devi. The latter will be hoping to do better after crashing out in the Round of 16 in her individual event.

Not only can Thulasimathi win gold in women's singles SU5, Manisha Ramadass can also clinch bronze for India in the same category within the next hour or so.

The next set of badminton games at Paralympics 2024 will be kicked off by Thulasimathi Murugesan's women's singles SU5 final. She takes on China's Qiu Xia Yang, who had earlier beaten Manisha Ramadass in the group stage.

While India goes mad for Neeraj Chopra, another javelin star is flying India's flag high on the world stage. Sumit Antil won gold in Tokyo 2020 Paralympics three years ago. Since then, he has also won two consecutive World Championships gold medals. Can he script yet more history tonight? He's certainly one of the favourites.

Thulasimathi Murugesan could etch her name into Paralympics history tonight by becoming the first Indian woman to win a para badminton gold. After beating compatriot Manisha Ramadass in the semis, she will face China's Qiu Xia Yang in the final of the women's singles SU5 event.

Suhas Yathiraj will be aiming to make it two male para badminton golds in Paralympics 2024. Much like Nitesh, Yathiraj is seeded first in his category (SL4). 

Armless wonder Sheetal Devi would've expected a lot more than a Round of 16 exit in the individual archery event, and she would be desperate to make amends in the mixed team event tonight.

Pramod Bhagat and Krishna Nagar had won golds in para badminton in Tokyo. Pramod was not allowed to participate in Paris in the SL3 event due to failure to report whereabouts, going against the anti-doping regulations. Nitesh Kumar has proven to be a worthy successor.

A valiant effort by Great Britain's Daniel Bethell in the final. He clinched the second game after being down 3 points. He fought back from 5 points down in the second game, and was one point away from the gold. A worthy finalist.

Nitesh almost won it in two games. He was down 21-20 in the final game. But cometh the crunch moments, Nitesh stood strong, kept his composure, and delivers India's second gold in Paralympics 2024. Outstanding stuff.

Oh dear! From 5 points down at 17-12, Daniel Bethell has pulled off an incredible comeback. It's all square at 19-19!

19-17 now in the final. Just a few more moments for Nitesh to hang on to clinch a gold.

Bethell is not giving up just yet. The British badminton star racks up three points in a row to lessen the gap.

Much like the second game, this one also looks set to go down to the wire. Points being exchanged at the moment, but the British second seed holds the small lead.

Meanwhile, the Mixed 25m Pistol Qualification Rapid event has resumed. Two Indians vying for a spot in the final:

Daniel Bethell leads the third and deciding game 3-2 in the early moments. Good start for the Briton.

The 29-year-old will rue not finishing the match in the second game, but he needs to put it all behind now and start afresh for the third and final game. This has been a marathon match that has gone on for over an hour already.

Oh will Nitesh come back to regret that? 18-17 up at one stage, but he loses four points in a row to Bethell, who takes the second game.

The gold medal match will go to a deciding game!

Bethell wins two points in a row, and now leads 19-18. Nitesh on the back foot for the first time in a long while in the second game. Remember, if Nitesh wins the game, he wins gold.

Three points away from gold, but these moments will seem to go by very slowly for Nitesh Kumar. India waits, India expects!

Bethell is not willing to surrender. This second game is going down to the wire and Nitesh will have to hold his nerve if he wants that gold medal.

Yes! Nitesh takes the next point. Maintains a slender lead and breaks Bethell's short spell of momentum.

Three points in quick succession for Daniel Bethell. This will be the ultimate test of Nitesh's resilience and mentality. Can he hold firm?

Nitesh Kumar continues to maintain the gap. Never resting on his laurels. 14-11 lead now for the Indian, over second seed Daniel Bethell in the final.

Perhaps the most impressive thing about Nitesh in this final has been that he has not let Bethell feel the momentum. Whenever the Briton gets a point, Nitesh fights back almost immediately.

To those unfamiliar, the men's singles para badminton SL3 games happen on just one half of the court.

Much like the first game, an early lead for Daniel Bethell. The Brit is executing his smashes well in a must-win game for him.

Bethell, 28, was also the silver medalist in this category in the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics. Unless he scripts a major comeback, he is set to repeat that feat.

The second game is underway!

A fantastic end to the first game for Nitesh Kumar. He takes it 21-14, and that is one hand on the gold medal. Vital.

Daniel Bethell has not dropped a single game in Paralympics 2024 men's singles SL3, but Nitesh Kumar is on the verge of breaking that streak. 6 GAME POINTS!

A very crucial lead late in the first game for Nitesh. He is eyeing a 1-0 lead in the final now. A 4-point advantage will be a difficult one for Bethell to claw back.

The 29-year-old first seed once again making a comeback in the final. He had gone down 11-13, but then won three points in a row to retake the lead. At the moment, it is 15-14 for the Indian.

The last portion of the mixed 25m pistol SH1 Qualification rapid is set to start at 4:30 PM IST. Currently, India have two representatives in the top 8: Nihal Singh in 4th and Amir Ahmad Bhat in 8th.

Avani Lekhara scripted history on Day 2 when she won India's first gold of Paralympics 2024. Now, Nitesh Kumar will be aiming to be the first of three badminton stars looking to join that list.

We are about two minutes away from the Gold Medal Match in badminton men's singles between Nitesh Kumar and Britain's Daniel Bethell.

Can India bag their second gold of Paralympics 2024?

It is a clash between the first two seeds in the men's singles SL3 category. Nitesh is seeded first, while his final opponent is second seed Daniel Bethell of Great Britain.

Nitesh Kumar will be fighting for India's second gold at Paralympics 2024. He takes part in the men's singles SL3 badminton final in about 15 minutes.

India's mixed doubles badminton pair of Solaimalai Sivarajan and Sumathy Sivan Nithye Sre have lost the first game of the bronze medal match 21-17.

Slovakia's Dusan Laczko finishes his 6 attempts with scores of 41.20, 40.76, 39.09, 39.04, 39.29, 40.40. Serbia's Nebojsa was to go first in the list but he didn't start. India's Yogesh is 4th in the order.

India's Nihal Singh takes 4th spot while Amir Ahmad finishes 8th at the end of the precision round in p3 mixed 25m pistol qualification. Both scored 97 in the 3rd and final series. Now, it's time to turn our attention to discus final, featuring Yogesh Kathuniya. 

India would be hoping to add a bronze medal to the tally in badminton as the pairing of Sivarajan Solaimalai-Nithya Sre Sivan takes on Indonesia's Subhan-Rina Marlina in the mixed doubles SH6 bronze match.

India's Yogesh Kathuniya will soon be in action in the men's discus throw - F56 final. He earned a silver medal in the Tokyo Games and is be determined to change the medal's colour to gold this time. 

Nihal finishes second series with as core of 94 while Amir gets 95. But both are placed outside the top 8 at the moment. 

Scores of 96 and 94 for Nishant and Amir in the first series see them placed 8th and 10th respectively. Second series underway now!

The first series is underway in mixed 25m pistol SH1 qualification. At the end of first five shots in the precision round, Nihal is sixth with 48 while Amir is 16th with 47. Only the top 8 go through to the final, after both precision and rapid rounds. 

Remember, this is only the precision round. The rapid to follow later at 4:30 PM  to decide who goes to the final, which will be held at 8:15 PM.

Shooters Nihal Singh and Amir Ahmed Bhat will soon be in action in the P3 - mixed 25m pistol SH1 qualification (precision). The rapid round and final will take place later in the day.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday congratulated Nishad Kumar for winning the silver medal in the men's high jump T47 event at the Paris Paralympics. 

Nishad, who also finished second in Tokyo three years ago, achieved his season-best performance with a leap of 2.04 meters, earning him the silver.

PM Modi took to his official X handle and hailed Nishad for his "remarkable achievement" at the ongoing Paralympics.

"Congrats to @nishad_hj for his remarkable achievement in winning a Silver medal in the Men's High Jump T47 event at the #Paralympics2024! He has shown us all that with passion and determination, everything is possible. India is elated," PM Modi wrote on X.
