About Kokugikan Arena

Known to be the spiritual home of the Japanese national sport of sumo wrestling, the Kokugikan Arena is an indoor sporting complex, in Tokyo's Yokoami neighborhood.

The building was opened up in 1985 and is mainly used for sumo wrestling tournaments.

The interior is designed in a bowl shape so that spectators can easily watch sumo bouts in the centre of the auditorium.

For the upcoming 2020 Olympics, it will be hosting the boxing events.
