About Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium

One of the venues from the 1964 Olympics, the Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium was the main arena during that year. In 1964, it hosted gymnastic events and water polo. Water polo was held in the arena's indoor pool.

The sporting complex is located in Sendagaya in Tokyo. It was built in 1954 for the World Wrestling Championship. It was later rebuilt from 1986 to 1990 by Pritzker Architecture Prize awardee Fumihiko Maki. The complex will be hosting the table tennis competition for the upcoming Tokyo Olympics 2020.
