Inderjeet Singh, Rio Olympics-bound shotputter who failed a dope test, has been one of the most consistent performers in recent times in track and field events.
The 28-year-old Inderjeet, who hails from Shahid Bhagat Singh Nagar in Punjab, is a bronze medallist at the 2014 Asian Games and a gold medallist at the 2015 Asian Championship.
Apart from the two medals, Inderjeet also bagged a gold at the Asian Athletics Grand Prix Series in Bangkok, on 22 June 2015, with a throw of 19.83 m.
He qualified for Rio Olympics after achieving the qualification mark with a throw of 20.65 m in May, 2015, at 19th Federation Cup.
Inderjeet is one of those athletes who does not train at the national camps. He normally trains on his own with his personal coach.
He had a training stint earlier this year in the United States under funding of the Sports Ministry's Target Olympic Podium (TOP) Scheme.
Known for his outspoken nature, Inderjeet has often been critical of how the Indian sports officials functioned.
