U Mumba entered the finals of the second season of the Pro Kabaddi with a comfortable 35-18 win over Patna Pirates at the NSCI Stadium in Mumbai. It was a team effort by the winning team, with Anup Kumar yet again marshaling his resources like a true leader. The match saw Surender Nada and Mohit Chhillar, unleashing their ruthlessness. Surender came up with 10 tackle points with one super tackle, a record for a defender.
The winners fielded Shabeer Bapu Sharfudeen who too impressed in the important first session. It also proved his level of fitness for the decisive battle on Sunday when UMumba face the Bengaluru Bulls. The winners led 22-6 at the breather after inflicting two all-outs by the 11th minute and 19th minute.
Patna on their part just couldn't put up a fight as their rivals raced at break neck speed. Rishank Devadiga scored four points including a bonus, Anup came up with three and Shabeer with four to make things easy for their team.
Earlier, Bengaluru Bulls staved off a late fightback from their southern rivals Telugu Titans from Hyderabad to chalk out an exciting 39-38 victory and enter the final of the Pro Kabaddi League.
Putting on a very impressive show in both attack and defense, the Bulls simply blew away their rivals after the first five minutes and were racing away to a thumping victory.
But the Titans made a late surge to cut the Bulls' commanding 16-point lead to just one point when the winning team's captain Manjeet Bullar made a successful raid and made it 39-37 with the last few seconds remaining. The Titans got one more point through Rahul Chaudhari's successful last-gasp effort to go down to the Bulls for the third time this season. When the Titans caught up with their rivals 4-4 after the fifth minute and then at 8-all it looked as if a good fight would ensue.
