VVS Laxman, Brendon McCullum, Muttiah Muralitharan and Mahela Jayawardena are some of the big names included in the Indian Premier League auctions with reserve prices of 400,000 and 200,000 US dollars respectively. They are a part of a list of 144 players going under the hammer to find a team, on February 4.
While Laxman and McCullum have earned a reserve price of 400,000 US dollars, the Sri Lankan pair of Muralitharan and Jayawardene have a base price of 300,000 US dollars.
Some of the other Indian stars in the erstwhile Kochi team who make it to the auctions are S Sreesanth (400,000 dollars), Ravindra Jadeja (100,000 dollars), Parthiv Patel (200,000 dollars) and R Vinay Kumar (100,000 dollars)
"The shortlist comprises some outstanding cricket talent. Given that it was prepared on the basis of the feedback of the Franchises themselves, the stage is set for an exciting and eventful Player Auction, this Saturday," said Rajeev Shukla, Chairman of IPL, on the list announced.
Apart from the Kochi players, who were put into the auction because the franchise was terminated, other big names included Owais Shah and Ian Bell of England and Nicky Boje of South Africa. New Zealand's Jacob Oram and South Africa's Mark Boucher have been put into the 100,000 US dollars category.
