Indian Women Sweep Hockey Series vs Malaysia
India beat Malaysia 5-2 in their sixth and final match to remain unbeaten in a totally one-sided series.

In the last match of the Malaysian tour on Tuesday, Indian women thrashed the hosts 5-2 to sweep the six-match hockey series without losing a game. The series was in preparation for the Commonwealth Games 2014 in Glasgow.

India scored at will against the Malaysians. The first goal came in the third minute through Poonam Rani. In the 14th minute, Sunita Lakra beautifully converted a penalty corner. In the 28th minute, Anuradha scored followed by back-to-back field goals by Ritushah Arya in the 34th and 35th minutes. India led 5-1 at half time, with Malaysia scoring a field goal in the 21st minute.
In the second half, Malaysia scored their second goal in the 55th minute. Malaysia managed to create a couple of scoring opportunities in the dying minutes but the Indian defence stood like a wall.
Team's midfielder and captain Ritu Rani said, "We have outperformed and swept the board against Malaysia. I am extremely elated with the way my team has performed all the way through -- confident and consistent. The clean sweep has lifted our spirits to a new high. I am delighted we lived up to the expectations of our coaches, selectors and the people of our country."
