Jamie Dwyer Becomes Most Capped Australian Hockey Player
Playing his 322nd international match, Jamie Dwyer, the five-time FIH player of the year, became the most capped Australian player, surpassing the record of former midfielder Jay Stacy.

Making a comeback to the international platform after a 10- month absence, Australian player Jamie Dwyer had more reasons to cheer for on Sunday, as he inked another record in his name during the opening match against Canada in the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup in Ipoh, Malaysia.(Dwyer Scores in Record-Breaking International)
Playing his 322nd international match, the five-time FIH player of the year, became the most capped Australian player, surpassing the record of former midfielder Jay Stacy.
"I don't play for personal records but this is special. I am happy to equal Stacy's record. In fact, Stacy is my role model. To be able to reach what he has done is special," Dwyer said post Australia's win over Canada in the first match.
Dwyer, in fact, made the history in style as he contributed a goal, his 207th, in the team's 7-0 win against Canada.
"I made many attempts to score before the last one clicked. But then it happens in international hockey. At times, you don't score despite getting many chances and at other times, you score in the first attempt."
Australia will take on hosts Malaysia in their next match.
