Wentworth:

Shiv Kapur remained in the hunt for an impressive finish with a steady round of one-under 71 that saw him in tied fifth place after the second round at the BMW PGA Championship.

Following on his solid 67 in first round, Kapur, the Asian Tour's Rookie of the Year in 2005, is six-under-par 138 at Wentworth Club.

Also making the cut for the weekend were the other two Indian stars, Jyoti Randhawa (75) and Jeev Milkha Singh (69).

Kapur was just two shots behind the leading duo of Angel Cabrera of Argentina who improved with a 66 and England's Justin Rose who carded a 70.

Meanwhile Randhawa slipped down the ladder with a three-over 75 that included four bogeys, a double bogey and only three birdies. He is now one-under 143 and tied 27th way down from overnight tied seventh.

There was some cheer for Jeev Milkha Singh, as he came back from a tough position following a 77 on first day with a 69 on second day that saw him squeeze inside the cut line at tied 60th place.

Strong start

Kapur made a strong start with birdies on first two holes and another on fifth. But two quick bogeys on seventh and ninth and then a double on par-4 15th threatened to ruin his day.

But back to back birdies on 17th and 18th salvaged the round and his 71 put him in a good position to make a charge over the weekend.

He is reaching greens in regulation well as he had 13 in second after 14 on first day, but once again needed 29 putts. He had 27 on first day.
