New Delhi:
Former cricketer Kapil Dev is offering sponsorship to end a dispute between the Professional Golfers Association of India and its marketing arm Tiger Sports.
Kapil Dev's offer of Rs 5.5 crore worth of sponsorship, when added to Rs 3.40 crore promised by Tiger Sports will raise prize money to an unbelievable Rs 9 crore.
The offer came, as PGAI and Tiger Sports did not deliver the prize money promised for each season.
"Kapil promised in front of 10 people of Rs 5.5 crore he hasnt given anything in written but promised the amount," said professional golfer Ashok Kumar.
The dispute between PGAI and Tiger Sports is before the Delhi High Court, which will hold a hearing on September 20.
Encouraged by the sponsorship offer professional golfers are ready to bury differences and return to the greens.
Former PGAI Board member Romit Bose adds, "we have come to some kind of negotiation at the moment and a compromise might be reached".
Though players have agreed to the tour, there is a long way to go.
