New Delhi:

In the last 20 years there have been 12 Indians who have won international golf events in India, clearly home advantage counts a lot in cricket and in golf.

Backing the comfort level on home grounds Jyoti Randhawa, three-time winner of the Indian Open said, "You know where to hit, when to hit, when to play and when to be aggressive."

Ace player Shiv Kapur said, "You know every blade of grass, it's our comfort zone which is important in any sport." Similarly Gaurav Ghei said, "The Indian players know exactly how to play on this golf course."

Home is an advantage yes to the Indian players but when competition is pitted against the likes of Ernie Els and Darren Clarke, it changes the equation altogether.

World Number 4, Ernie Els said, "It might not look great on TV but the course is playing very well, you got to be very accurate of the tees, and the greens are quite difficult to put on, I played with Arjun today and he gave me a few tips."

Some lined up tournaments are the MGF Indian Masters at the DGC this week worth US$ 2.5 million. The SAIL Open an Asian tour event later this month is worth US$ 400,000. The Johnnie Walker Classic at the end of February will also be worth US$ 2.5 million.

The Indian Open that took place in October 2007 had prize money worth US$ 600,000.

This makes the prize money from just four international events in India worth US$ 6 million dollars or Rs 24 crores.
