Beijing:

Indian golfer Gaurav Ghei has won the Pine Valley Beijing Open at Beijing. The 10th ranked Asian won the tournament by two strokes with a four-day score of 14 under.

Ghei carded a 3 under in the final round to win his first tournament this year. The 38-year-old golfer held off a strong challenge from his Asian tour counterparts after being in a four-way tie for the lead after the third round.

This is Ghei's first victory after his win at the Mercuries Masters in 2006.

As for the rest of the Indian contingent, SSP chowrasia finished tied for 29th while Amandeep Johl finished tied for 35th.

Jyoti falls short

Across in Europe, Jyoti Randhawa just fell short, losing out to South Africa's Charl Schwartzel who won the Spanish Open in Madrid.

A 15-foot eagle putt on the 16th hole proved decisive as Schwartzel captured his second European Tour title by one shot from Randhawa.

They both had the bulk of their third rounds to play as well as the closing 18 holes because of rain delays.

But Schwartzel shot rounds of 68 and 67 to win with a 16-under-par total.
