Rome:
Mirko Vucinic scored twice in the final eight minutes and AS Roma advanced to the Italian Cup quarterfinals with a 2-0 win over Bologna on Wednesday .
Vucinic's first goal came from a sharp angle in the 82nd minute after taking a pass from Roma's new French forward Jeremy Menez. Then in the 86th a defensive error let Vucinic in on goal on his own for an easy second score.
Vucinic also scored a last-minute winner in Roma's 3-2 win over Cagliari in Serie A on Sunday.
The Giallorossi will next face either Inter Milan or Genoa, which play on January 13.
Also last night, Torino eliminated Fiorentina 1-0 to give coach Walter Novellino his first victory since returning to the club last week.
Rolando Bianchi put Torino in front in the 19th minute at Artemio Franchi stadium following a pass from Tommaso Vailatti. Torino will now face Lazio, which beat AC Milan 2-1 two weeks ago.
"This is an important victory, which gives us courage and enthusiasm after a rough period," Novellino said. "But we still have lot of work to do."
Torino is next-to-last in Serie A with 12 points. Torino striker Nicola Ventola nearly made it 2-0 in the 88th but was stopped by Marco Storari, filling in for Fiorentina's regular goalkeeper Sebastien Frey.
Ventola also thought he had earned a penalty in injury time but the referee apparently changed his mind.
Fiorentina's high-powered attack of Alberto Gilardino and Adrian Mutu played the entire match, but the closest they came to scoring was when Gilardino's header from the center of the area missed wide in the 62nd.
Gilardino has scored 12 goals in Serie A and Mutu has six this season.
