Imola:
World champion Michael Schumacher eased to victory in the San Marino Grand Prix on Sunday leading home a Ferrari 1-2 for his third victory of the season. Ferrari teammate Rubens Barrichello grabbed second place for his first finish and points of the season.
Schumacher made the perfect start to his record-breaking 97th race for Ferrari. The German, who began on pole, powered away from the grid as Formula One finally got a race without a first lap crash for the first time this season.
Schumacher's brother Ralf, who won on the Italian track in his Williams-BMW last year, snatched second spot from Rubens Barrichello in the other Ferrari.
There was further frustration for the Brazilian as former teammate Eddie Irvine held up the Ferrari for three quarters of a lap -- an offence that Irvine has accused Barrichello of in the past.
However, it was Michael Schumacher who held on from start to finish with a comfortable winning margin of 17 seconds.
Schumacher's third victory of the season left him 14 points clear of his brother and nearest rival Ralf in the championship after four races.
Barichello managed to work his way back into second ahead of Ralf Schumacher. Ralf, winner here last year for his first career victory, was third ahead of Williams' teammate Juan Pablo Montoya.
Ferrari now lead the championship by three points from Williams BMW.
