Sao Paulo:

Kimi Raikkonen of Finland won the Brazilian Grand Prix on Sunday after the rain-drenched race was stopped with a red flag following a series of spin-outs and crashes. The race was stopped during the 55th lap, when Italian Giancarlo Fisichella was in first place. But race officials declared that the race was over at the end of the 54th lap, when Raikkonen was in front. Raikkonen finished with a time of 1 hour, 29 minutes, 53.179 seconds. Fisichella's time was 1:29:54.010. Third place went to Spain's Fernando Alonso at 1:29:59.874. David Coulthard, a Briton, was fourth in 1:30:00.570 and Germany's Heinz-Harald Frentzen was fifth in 1:30:02.571. The race was stopped shortly after Alonso went out of control and crashed in debris that littered the track after Mark Webber crashed a short time earlier. Alonso was taken away in a stretcher. Webber appeared unharmed and said he wasn't sure why he spun off the track, crashed into a fence and left debris all over the track. "I lost all grip. I don't know why," he said. "There may have been something on the track, I don't know." (AP)
