New Delhi:

Highly rated Formula One driver Nico Hulkenberg will spend his fourth season at Force India in 2015 and the German says staying with the midfield squad was the best available option.

Hulkenberg has been linked to top teams many times since making his debut at Williams in 2010. But as it turns out, he will remain with a mid-level unit next year.

"Next year will be my fifth year in Formula 1 and I hope to have a long future in the sport. Staying at Force India was the best available option. It will be my fourth year with them and it feels good to have some stability," Hulkenberg told PTI from Zurich today after it was confirmed that he will continue to race for the Silvestone outfit.

The current season has already proved most prolific for Hulkenberg, who lies eighth in the drivers' standings with 76 points. His teammate Sergio Perez is way behind at 47 points, placing him 11th going into the remaining three rounds of the season.

Hulkenberg feels there have been a lot of positives in his career but he is in the business for wins and podiums, something he has been unable to achieve despite his rich talent.

"Definitely I want to win races and collect podiums and fight for the championship. But the reality is that it is not just about the driver, it is also about the team and car you have. I am confident my time will come," said the German, who returned to Force India this year after a season at Sauber.

His current team has slipped rapidly in the standings post the mid-season break and find themselves in a familiar sixth spot in the championship behind McLaren.

Force India enjoyed an impressive first half and were running fourth ahead of Ferrari, Williams and McLaren before the British Grand Prix.

Hulkenberg admitted that car's performance has dropped and their competitors have improved faster.

"There has surely been a drop in performance. It will be tough to beat McLaren for fifth place but we will give our best in the remaining races. We are 20 points behind McLaren, who have a pretty fast car at the moment," said 27-year-old.
