With day temperatures dipping below normal, it seems the weather gods too have joined in to extend hospitality to latest soccer demigod Lionel Messi and his peers who are in the city to play a FIFA friendly match.
Kolkata's Alipore Meteorological Department predicts the day's high at 29.3 degrees Celsius, three degrees below normal, while the minimum will be 24.5, a degree below normal.
With drizzle forecast during the day, fans on the unsheltered stands of Salt Lake stadium might get soaked while watching their hero in action. However, light rains are not known to worry soccer players.
The humidity, though, does give cause for mild concern. It is expected to reach a high of 94 percent and it might be a bit too much for players unused to such conditions.
The temperatures should make Messi in particular feel at home. They will be similar to the range in Barcelona, where the Argentine superstar has played a lot for Barcelona FC.
