Venezuela on Friday announced a strong 24-member squad to take on Lionel Messi-led Argentina in their International friendly on September 2 at Yuba Bharati Krirangan in Salt Lake, Kolkata.

Venezuela on Friday announced a strong 24-member squad to take on Lionel Messi-led Argentina in their International friendly on September 2 at Yuba Bharati Krirangan in Salt Lake here.


31-year-old senior pro Juan Arango will lead the Vinotinto, who finished fourth in 2011 Copa America following their 1-4 loss against Peru.

The team coached by Csar Faras will have 11 players from the squad who played in the Copa America including star midfielders Gabriel Cichero and Salomon Rondon and ace defender Oswaldo Vizcarrondo.

The players for the showpiece event will arrive in three batches with the first one of Argentines on Sunday morning.

Venezuela members are scheduled to arrive on August 29 while Argentine superstar Messi will join his team members in the third batch on August 30, sources said.
