Hamburg's Dutch striker Ruud van Nistelrooy is about to sign for Spanish first division club Malaga, Spanish media reported on Wednesday.
The player, who turns 35 on July 1, arrived in the southern Spanish city on Wednesday in a private plane to undergo medical tests and sign a one-year contract, the sports daily AS said on its website.
Malaga, which finished 11th in the Spain's top flight Primera Liga last season, is expected to announce the transfer Wednesday evening, AS said.
Van Nistelrooy joined Hamburg in January 2010 after four years at Real Madrid. He previously played for PSV Eindhoven and Manchester United.
At Real, he scored 46 goals in the league, winning the award for the top scorer in 2007.
