Rangers scraped into the group stage of the UEFA Cup on Thursday night after they beat Portuguese side Maritimo on penalty kicks.

Rangers scraped into the group stage of the UEFA Cup on Thursday night after they beat Portuguese side Maritimo on penalty kicks. Dado Prso's 70th minute strike brought the Scottish side back into the tie, which was drawn 1-1 on aggregate at the end of the second leg. Two Maritimo players failed to convert their spot kicks when Gregory Vignal finished confidently to earn Rangers a 4-2 shootout win and a place in the group stage of the competition. (AP)
