England coach Roy Hodgson has named an inexperienced squad for the friendly against Euro 2012 runner up Italy next week, with only 10 players from his 23-man European Championship squad involved.

Captain Steven Gerrard, defenders John Terry and Ashley Cole and striker Wayne Rooney are excluded from the team. Ryan Bertrand of Chelsea, John Ruddy of Norwich and Steven Caulker and Jake Livermore, both of Tottenham, are all in line to make their first appearance for the national side.

Midfielder Frank Lampard, who missed the European Championship through injury, returns to the side as does Tottenham right back Kyle Walker.
