Saitama:

Ronaldo is recovering from muscle pains and is expected to train with the team on Monday, the team's doctor said. "Ronaldo is getting better," Jose Luis Runco said today. "We expect that tomorrow he can join practice with the rest of the group". Ronaldo's recovery makes it more likely he will be fit to face Turkey in the World Cup semifinals on Wednesday. Germany plays South Korea in the other game. Ronaldo complained of a pain in his left thigh muscle during Brazil's 2-1 victory over England on Friday and was replaced in the 70th minute. An ultrasound scan on Saturday revealed no serious injury, and Runco said the pain was caused by muscle stress that usually takes 72 hours to heal. On Sunday, Ronaldo joined most of the other starting players in the gym, lifting weights and working out in the pool, a team spokesperson said. The second-string squad practiced at Omiya field. Joining the group were starters Marcos, Kleberson, Gilberto Silva and Ronaldinho, who was sent off against England and will miss the semifinals with an automatic one-game suspension. (AP)
