Romario Says Michel Platini Worked With FIFA Mafia for Many Years
Michel Platini is serving a 90-day suspension from all football activities after being investigated over a $2 million payment made to him by Sepp Blatter in 2011 for consultancy work performed years earlier.
Brazilian football legend Romario, currently a senator in his country, has said that none of the current candidates for the presidency of FIFA is "credible", noting that former French superstar Michel Platini has collaborated for many years with the mafia that was in the world football governing body. "Platini worked for many years with the mafia in FIFA. I'm not saying he is corrupt, but he has been affected by the system," Efe quoted Romario as saying in an interview with French newspaper L'Equipe, published on Thursday. (Sepp Blatter, Platini Suspended for 90 Days)
He added that if Platini elected as FIFA president, everything may be maintained unchanged.

Romario, 1994 World Cup winner also expressed his confidence that the Brazilian team will qualify for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
