Neuer to join Bayern Munich on July 1

Goalkeeper Manuel Neuer will officially join Bayern Munich from Schalke on July 1, the two clubs announced on Wednesday after coming to agreement on his transfer.

The 25-year-old Germany international has signed up on a five-year deal until June 30, 2016, Bayern said in a statement.

Schalke sporting director Horst Heldt added: "We have decided to accept Bayern Munich's offer because it's the best solution for Schalke. We went along with Manuel's desire to change clubs this summer."

Bayern and Schalke came to an agreement at a meeting on May 10 for a transfer worth 18 million euros plus bonuses linked to Bayern's results.
