Manchester City could soon have the third largest ground in the English Premier League if the club gains permission to increase the size of its Etihad Stadium.
City is looking to extend the 47,500-seat stadium by starting work on one or two of its stands. If it receives the go-ahead, the capacity could be raised to around 60,000 - behind only Manchester United and Arsenal in England's topflight.
City has made public its plans through an exhibition at the stadium as part of a consultation with fans, residents and stakeholders that runs through August. The club intends to submit a planning application to the local council in December.
City official Pete Bradshaw says on Friday "rising demand from supporters" is the reason behind the expansion proposals.
