London:
Another crucial goal by Carlos Tevez led Manchester United to within one point of a third straight English Premier League title in a 2-1 win at Wigan on Wednesday.
United had trailed to Hugo Rodallega's 28th-minute goal until Tevez went on as a substitute and equalized just three minutes later with a 61st-minute back heel into the net.
England midfielder Michael Carrick then scored the winner with four minutes remaining at JJB Stadium.
United needs only to avoid defeat against visiting Arsenal on Saturday to clinch the championship with a game remaining and go level with Liverpool on a record 18 titles.
"We'll approach the game the way we always approach a game," United manager Alex Ferguson said. "It is against a very good Arsenal side."
Liverpool is six points behind United ahead of its penultimate game at West Bromwich Albion, also on Saturday.
United, which beat Manchester City 2-0 at the weekend, looked to be heading for an embarrassing loss until Tevez entered the game as a replacement for Anderson.
The Argentina striker, who had scored just his fourth league goal of the season at the weekend, has said he expects to be playing for a different club next year because of United's reluctance to make his loan signing permanent, but he showed his worth again when he reacted quickly to Carrick's off-target shot and redirected it into goal.
A draw would have left United needing to win one of its last two games to make sure of the title, with a last-day trip to relegation-threatened Hull on May 24, but Carrick secured victory with a shot into the top corner from about 20 meters (yards).
"To score goals as important as that is a great feeling," Carrick said. "Wigan came at us and caused a few problems. It's not the first time we have come from behind.
"We did it the hard way."
While United has won 27 of its 36 Premier League matches, Wigan has drawn four and lost 28 of its 32 games against the division's top four clubs since entering the topflight four years ago.
