Manchester:

Manchester City says Togo has pulled out of the African Cup of Nations after an attack on the team bus, which included its striker Emmanuel Adebayor.

At least three people died following Friday's ambush when gunmen attacked the team in Angola.

City said Saturday in a statement that "Adebayor and his teammates met this morning before deciding that they wished to pull out of the tournament."

Adebayor captains the Togo team, which had been due to play Ghana on Monday in its opening match.

City said that the team is "now heading home to their families."
