Madrid:
Getafe midfielder Esteban Granero is reportedly set to return to Real Madrid.
Madrid, which sold the 22-year-old Spanish midfielder to Getafe in 2007, is ready to exercise a euro4 million ($5.7 million) buyback clause, Efe news agency said on Thursday.
Granero, who scored 13 goals in 78 appearances for Getafe, would be Madrid's sixth offseason signing to take its total spending to euro218 million ($310 million).
The Spanish team spent a record 80 million pounds (euro94 million; $131 million) on Cristiano Ronaldo from Manchester United and also signed midfielder Kaka, defender Raul Albiol and strikers Karim Benzema and Alvaro Negredo. Defender Ezequiel Garay also returns from a loan spell at Racing Santander.
Getafe sold Nigeria striker Uche Ikechukwu to Real Zaragoza earlier this week.
