Cristiano Ronaldo has been left out of Real Madrid's squad for its Spanish league game versus Zaragoza on Saturday.

Madrid coach Jose Mourinho said on Friday that he decided to rest Ronaldo. He will join Xabi Alonso, Lass Diarra and Raul Albiol in the stands at Santiago Bernabeu stadium as Madrid tries to keep the pressure on league leader Barcelona.

Madrid's top scorer will have extra time to recover for Tuesday's return leg of the Champions League semifinal against Barcelona, which holds a 2-0 first-leg lead.

Barcelona, which has an eight-point lead over Madrid in La Liga, visits Real Sociedad.
