Rome:

Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti hit out on Thursday at the club's Argentine striker Diego Milito, who missed a glorious chance in Wednesday's 1-1 draw at Atalanta.

With the scores level in the second half Milito somehow contrived to chest the ball over the bar from three yards out from Maicon's pinpoint cross.

He seemed to be slow to react to a cross that looked easy to head home.

And Moratti claims the 32-year-old is simply not in good form.

"I cannot say that individual players played badly, there were little mistakes but the team is improving," he told journalists.

"However, we were missing something in attack. I don't think (Milito) was in great form."

"We put a lot of pressure on (Atalanta), we kept the ball but we didn't finish things off."

The president is now eagerly awaiting Saturday's 'derby of Italy' against league leaders Juventus, a match Inter must win if they are to entertain any hopes of dragging themselves back into the title race.

"But what a game in which to bounce back, Inter-Juventus, the derby of Italy," enthused Moratti.

"It will be interesting to see what form both teams are in and to understand how the league is going to pan out."

"I don't think it's about redemption for either side, what's important is picking up points."

Juventus are the only unbeaten team left in Serie A and are a point ahead of Udinese and Lazio, with Napoli and AC Milan another point further back.

Inter, meanwhile, are fifth from bottom having won only two of their eight matches so far.

But no team has won more than half their games in a table that is extremely congested right the way through, with Inter only eight points behind Juve.
