Shillong Lajong Football Club kicked off their I-League campaign in style, beating Mohun Bagan 2-0 at the Jawahar Lal Nehru Sports Complex here Saturday.
It was the tourists who had better ball possession but unfit Odafa and Tolgay, who are recovering from the injury, failed to capitalise the opportunity.
Lajong custodian Lalthuammawia Ralte had a busy evening under the wood work for which he was later awarded man of the match.
Changing over the side Lajong took the control over the game and broke the dead lock in the 58th minute of the game when substitute Boithan Haokip penetrated the Sushil Kumar Singh's flag kick into the net.
A minute prior to Haokip's goal, it was Friday who had found the net but was caught off side by referee Ajit Meetei.
When the match into injury time, Lalramluaha Hmar sealed the fate of the game by heading home Samuel Shadap's volley.
