Greek Professional Soccer Players Association (PSAP) president Dionysis Dimopoulos said that the country's federation and top two leagues agreed to the fund after an emergency meeting.
"There was a spirit of solidarity. We shared solutions to the problem. The guarantee fund will operate immediately and will help the players," Dimopoulos said.
He said that the association will monitor closely that the fund operates properly and reserves the right to proceed with a strike if it does not.
The association had scheduled strike action to begin with the third round of Greek Cup group matches of December 15-17 and continue with Super League and second division matches of December 19-21.
