Benzema has been charged in France with playing a part in asking Valbuena for a significant amount of money for not releasing a video of sexual content on the internet, featuring him and his wife, reports Efe.
"I wouldn't do that, not even to my worst enemy. (His words) showed a lack of respect. I thought the world of him before, but now I feel he's taken me for a fool," Valbuena declared on Friday.
"I can't defend the indefensible. His way of speaking wasn't aggressive, and he didn't mention money specifically, but when he insisted I met with someone -- I've never seen anyone who would destroy a video for free just because he loves me," the Lyon midfielder admitted.
"Stop taking people for fools."
This is the first time Valbuena has broken his silence over Benzema's involvement in the blackmail case.
