New Delhi:

The All India Football Federation is looking to rope in professionals from abroad in its bid to turn its proposed academy in Goa in collaboration with Bharti Airtel into a state-of-the-art centre.

The academy had run into rough weather last year following a land dispute and after several months delay, work is finally starting on the proposed academy, likely from next month.

"The land will be handed over soon and work will then proceed," Union Aviation Minister and AIFF acting president, Praful Patel said.

It was Patel, who during a visit to Goa in the first week of this month, managed to break the tussle between two of the state's powerful politicians Joaquim Alemao and Marcos Pacheco, which had stalled any work on the project.

And in a bid to make it a premier academy in the country, the AIFF is planning to get foreign professionals to run the show.

"There will be professional people from India and abroad who will run the academy," Patel said.
