Dimitru appointed SA coach

Ted Dimitru has been appointed coach of South Africa's soccer team, replacing Stuart Baxter.

Johannesburg:

Ted Dimitru has been appointed coach of South Africa's soccer team, replacing Stuart Baxter. Romanian-born Dimitru has coached South Africa's top club side Kaiser Chiefs. He has also spent time with the other giant Soweto club, Orlando Pirates, and Pretoria-based Mamelodi Sundowns. Dimitru will take the national team to the African Cup of Nations in Egypt in January. Supersport United coach Pitso Mosimane has been named as Dimitru's assistant, while Simon Ngomane was appointed head scout. (AP)
