Chelsea FC goalkeeper Petr Cech was named as the Czech Republic's 2005 Player of the Year on Monday.

Chelsea FC goalkeeper Petr Cech was named as the Czech Republic's 2005 Player of the Year on Monday. The Czech international received 4,235 votes from a panel of players and coaches of the Czech Republic's first division. Borussia Dortmund midfielder Tomas Rosicky was second and Pavel Nedved of Juventus came third. Czech Republic coach Karel Bruckner was chosen as the coach of the year, while Birmingham defender Martin Latka was selected as the best new talent. (AP)
