Borussia Dortmund captain Sebastian Kehl will miss Wednesday's Champions League match at Napoli and is expected to be sidelined for the next six weeks after twisting his ankle in training.
The 33-year-old landed heavily on his right ankle in training on Sunday, while a scan has revealed torn ankle ligaments and he is expected to be out until the end of October for last season's Champions League finalists.
As well as the trip to Naples, Kehl will now miss the home Champions League match against Marseille on October 1 and faces a race against time to be fit for the trip to Arsenal on October 22.
Borussia Dortmund are top of the Bundesliga with five wins after their 6-2 rout of Hamburg on Saturday and are the only team in the German league with a 100 percent record.
