Spanish police say Karim Benzema was fined for reckless driving after the Real Madrid striker was caught racing his luxury car through Ibiza's city center late Wednesday night.
A police official told The Associated Press on Thursday that the France international and two other drivers were charged with the infraction after they had raced a Porsche, Ferrari and Lamborghini in the capital of the Mediterranean island.
Police said Benzema paid the 250 ($350) fine in cash on the spot.
The police added Benzema was judged not to have been drinking and was therefore not given an alcohol test.
Last season, Benzema scored 26 goals in all competitions for Madrid.
