Beckham in the run-up to London 2012

A major electronic brand announced on Thursday that David Beckham will be its brand ambassador in the run-up to the London Olympic next year.

Beckham, who was part of the English contingent that won the bid to host the biggest sporting event of the world, will be required to participate in PR campaigns and appear in advertisements for the Korean company. With it, the LA Galaxy star will also be the global brand ambassador of the London Olympics.

Though his contract with the American soccer club expires later this year, Beckham has clarified that retiring is not an option for him before the Olympics next year.

Talking to members of the press earlier this week, Beckham could hardly hide his excitement although the Olympics are more than 400 days away. "I can hardly wait to take my children and show them some of the biggest stars from the world over," he had said.
