Berlin:

Bayern Munich's attempt to sign Manchester City's Jerome Boateng has hit a stumbling block with the German club reportedly baulking at the 20 million euro price tag the FA Cup winners have placed on their defender.

"The transfer has stalled because the asking price is too high," German magazine Sport Bild suggested on Wednesday.

Bayern's new manager Jupp Heynckes announced last month that discussions were under way to buy the German international but the two clubs are evidently poles apart in their respective valuation of the player.

According to Bild, Bayern are only willing to pay eight million euros for Boateng, who joined City last season on a 12.5 million deal from Hamburg.
