London:

Everton defender Leighton Baines has been ruled out of England's squad for their Euro 2012 clash with Wales after suffering a hamstring strain in training, it was confirmed on Monday.

Baines has returned to his club ahead of Tuesday night's Group G game at Wembley after a hamstring tweaked in training on Sunday failed to respond to treatment, an FA spokesman said.

Baines was on the bench during England's 3-0 victory over Bulgaria in Sofia last Friday but did not feature.

No decision on a replacement for the full-back has been taken.
