Andres Iniesta could be suspended from the first leg of Barcelona's Champions League semifinal clash with Real Madrid.
The UEFA is considering an additional one-game ban for Iniesta for allegedly provoking a yellow card in the first leg of his team's knockout series against Shakhtar Donetsk, which ruled him out of the return leg.
If imposed, the Spain midfielder would miss the game at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium on April 27.
Barcelona said late Monday that it believed Iniesta would not be dealt the extra punishment because of "the good faith of the player and the disproportionate nature of the proposed sanction."
The three-time European champions said a decision by UEFA was expected on Wednesday.
